DOIT Expands WhatsApp-Based Government Services, Citizens to Access Electricity and Urban Facilities Digitally
DOIT has expanded its WhatsApp-based government service platform by adding 21 new services from Jaipur Electricity Distribution Corporation and the Department of Local Self Government. The initiative launched by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has already enabled more than 140,000 citizens to access digital government facilities conveniently.
Himanshu Gupta, Special Secretary and Commissioner of the Department of Information Technology and Communication, stated that the expansion aims to provide greater accessibility and convenience to citizens through a single digital platform.
The Government WhatsApp Service was launched by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on July 1 during the National Conference on e-Governance. Since its launch, public response towards the service has continued to grow steadily. More than 140,000 citizens have already accessed various government services through this platform, reflecting its increasing popularity and usefulness.
During the first phase, 51 government services were made available through the platform. Considering the requirements of citizens, 21 additional services have now been added, allowing more government facilities to be accessed digitally through the same platform.
The expansion marks a significant step towards strengthening digital governance by making essential public services more accessible, efficient, and citizen-friendly through WhatsApp-based technology.
